My giving goal is to give by tithing my income, allocating 10% of my earnings to a separate savings account with the goal of giving back on a monthly basis. My long-term plan is to continue this practice throughout adulthood, eventually influencing and teaching my children as well as those around me to practice such intention giving.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact info@thephilanthropylab.org

Giving will take a strong place in my future as I navigate the early years of post-graduate life. This, however, will look different as the years go on and as I get older and build my career. At the beginning of my early career, I plan to give more of my time and talents than I do financials, as building stability in a turbulent time is an important thing to consider. Being more specific, Iâd love to give my time and talents to organizations and programs that align with my values for at least 5 hours a month, with hopes to much more if time allows for it. This would equate to about 60 hours annually, but Iâd love to grow that number to 100 annual hours as I learn how to balance the time associated with my job and the other important aspects of my life. Financially, I want to set aside 5% of my post-tax income into a separate account and give all of that to organizations that align with my mission and values. This would obviously be done after research, and giving financially is something that I look forward to being able to do.

I pledge to donate a percentage of my salary each year to nonprofits of my choosing in my city of residence. This will increase as my salary increases, but I plan to start by giving at least 7% of my salary so as to make a habit of it early in my career. Additionally, I plan to give my time by volunteering at local non-profits in my post-graduate city. All nonprofits I aim to give to will be identified after my move, but will likely center around women’s health and food insecurity.

I pledge to donate 10% of my salary to organizations that fight for justice for those being trafficked, provide education for children, spread the Gospel, and support other causes close to my heart. In addition to financial giving, Iâm committed to offering my time and talents by volunteering and serving in whatever ways are needed at the organizations I care about most. I pledge to give at least 5 hours each month in service, striving to offer full-circle support to both my community and the world.

Once I get an adequate job after graduation, I pledge to donate at least 5% of my yearly income to effective nonprofits, churches, and community organizations. While I am strongly passionate about nature and wildlife preservation, women protection/uplifting programs, and medical research initiatives, I will proudly commit to volunteer service days one weekend every month for local organizations addressing pertinent issues. I will take efforts to stay heavily involved in my community to help fill the gap in needs when it is apparent. Likewise, I would like to form strong relationships with local nonprofits that have causes I am passionate about, and possibly even join their boards or team. When financial contributions arenât possible, I will contribute to my community through my heart, time, and advocacy efforts. My goal is to create lasting positive impact through both consistent giving and active engagement with causes close to my heart; making just one personâs day better, is a win in my book.

After graduating from college, I plan to volunteer at least one hour of my time each month in service of a philanthropic cause. While my financial situation post-graduation is currently uncertainâmaking it difficult to commit to a specific monetary pledgeâI am committed to giving back in meaningful ways. Once I am in a more stable and comfortable financial position, I intend to donate 10% of my income to support causes I care about.
