I pledge to use the creation of my personal wealth to increase and provide growth and opportunity for the community around me. Three years after graduate school, I will give 10% of my yearly income to my local church and 5% to Christian-based organizations. I also pledge to participate in continuing education for philanthropic initiatives and community engagement.

I pledge to live a life that can only be defined as philanthropic. My actions will ignite the philanthropic mission in others to do good and be good. Financially, I will give discernly to orgnaizations that have well developed strategy and who produce measurable results. I hope to increase the percentage of my earned income I give each year of my life eventually to the point where the majority of my time is spent giving and improving the lives of others. Lastly, I hope to also guide for profit cooperations to do good. The for profit world has immense influence and power to create a net social benefit. By building relationships with executive teams, board of directors, and industry professionals there is an untapped channel of influence to steer corporate strategy. I am inspired to internalize what has been learned through Baylor’s Philanthropy Lab section and continue the good fight.

I pledge to give of my time and money from here on into the future. I pledge to invest my time in the community I am in and volunteer to help better the community whether that be as a mentor to kids or families. I also pledge to give starting at 10% of my income to nonprofits in my community that I am passionate about and know are making impacts in the community. I hope that 20 years after graduation I may have the means to up that number to 15% of my income and so on as I feel fit.

I pledge to give away at least 15% of my salary. At least 10% will be given to the local Church community in which I participate. I will give the remaining 5% or more to other Christian organizations that help to meet needs around the world, and share the love of God in a way that empowers communities and is attentive to the poor, oppressed, and marginalized. I also pledge that, every seven years, instead of receiving Christmas or birthday gifts, I will ask others to give to a non-profit(s) of my choosing. Beyond a specific monetary amount, I pledge to live a life that trusts in God’s abundant provision and gives generously out of an overflow of all He’s given me and His promise to provide. I pledge to strive to live with an attitude of “what do I need?”, “what can I live without?”, and “how could this be used or given to the benefit of another?” instead of being driven by selfish desires that privilege and benefit myself. I pledge that I will be willing to be inconvenienced and live with less in order to model the love of Christ to others, and in solidarity with the poor and oppressed in the face of systematic injustice, oppression, and privilege.

I pledge to continue developing my world view to be one that is more philanthropic, loving, and generous. I pledge to develop this in three realms: church, community, and career. Regarding the church, I pledge to tithe 10% of my income to my church in support of its ministries. I also pledge to give my energy and gifts to the church through service in the congregation. As for the community, I pledge to be involved with local community initiatives and serve on administrative bodies to support community revitalization. I also pledge to volunteer with my future family to foster generosity and philanthropic living in them as well. Regarding my career, I pledge to encourage generosity in my coworkers and colleagues by fostering a work environment that is supportive and empowering to all. I pledge to serve the community through my career and empower those who are marginalized to be participating members of their communities. I pledge to work for organizations that don’t just give hand outs, but truly foster human flourishing.

I pledge to be philanthropic with my time and resources. I will be intentional in my effort to know my neighbors and serve them well. I will be an active participant in my local, national, and global community. I will continue to serve as a mentor to the youth from low-income households and first-generation college students to pass on the love and support of those that so generously invested in me along the way. Finally, I will give 10% of my income to the fulfillment of the prayer “on earth as it is in heaven.” I will give to nonprofits and the church, distributing the 10% through careful discernment of how well their efforts align with my core values, promote the kingdom of God and his redeeming love, and answer the need they seek to address.
