I am committing myself to four hours of volunteer work a month, although I hope to exceed this number. Additionally, I plan on giving 5% of my income yearly, which I will put into a savings account that I am opening specifically for my giving and philanthropic purposes. As I hopefully will earn more, I will raise that number to 10%. I am passionate about mental health, education, and the needs of children. I hope to find causes that support these needs and I am open to learning and giving to other non-profits.

As I have been able to participate in the Nature of Giving course at TCU because of the generosity of donors, I have learned the importance, complexity, and necessity of philanthropy & giving. I believe I have been called to serve others: with my finances, with my time, and with a heart that acknowledges the humanity in every person. Therefore, I pledge to consistently, strategically, and responsibly give at least 10% of my income to my church/nonprofits/causes in my community that I learn to be trustworthy and wise uses of funds. I hope that this percentage grows over the course of my career and lifetime, and I hope that I continually recognize that these resources are not my own. Lastly, it is my goal that through my giving I can share the importance and heart behind my giving that inspires others to do the same.

As a student who has been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity receive an education from Texas Christian University, I feel it is my duty to give back to a community that has poured into me and thus helped me grow as an individual. After graduation, I pledge to give habitually and responsibly a minimum of 5% of my annual personal income to cause(s) of my choosing. Such organizations will be ones that align with my core values of faith, justice, peace, wisdom, family, and healthcare. I will not only give financially but practice due diligence by offering my time and creating meaningful relationships with the organization leaders. I will review my giving practices annually to measure the effectiveness of my donations, and hold myself accountable, making improvements to my giving pledge as deemed necessary. I pledge to share my experiences with my classmates, co-workers, friends, and family to encourage their active participation in hope to spark their interest in becoming a responsible donor themselves

As a student of Texas Christian University, I will pursue the mission statement of being an ethical leader and responsible citizen in my community to the best of my ability. I want to shed light on issues both locally and internationally, make diligent strides towards minimizing those issues, and inspire others in my community to give of themselves alongside me. Beginning with my first paycheck, I pledge to give 10% of my income to organizations that uphold my core values of faith, family, education, healthcare, freedom, and justice. I pledge to diligently and regularly evaluate the organizations to which I give my money, time, and talent. I will work to have genuine relationships with the organizations and individuals towards whom this time and money is directed. I will seek to live a life driven by service, generosity, and compassion for the world around me, acknowledging that any blessing bestowed upon me in education, talent, or income is a privilege and platform to make a difference.

After graduation, I pledge to give 10% of my annual income to organizations that I feel passionate about. Taking this Giving course has taught me a lot about myself and issues that are important to me, such as suicide prevention and domestic violence awareness. Additionally, I will practice due diligence when evaluating organizations to make sure that everyone involved in the organization is dedicated to the cause and that they know how to manage their finances properly. In addition to donating money, I will also donate my time and try to volunteer often in my community, but at a minimum, I hope to volunteer during the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas at local food banks or homeless shelters when the demand is the greatest. I will also share my giving experiences with my family and friends to encourage them to consider giving as well. Eventually, I hope to be able to raise my donation to 20% of my annual income once I am more financially stable.
