I pledge to remain aware of the importance of helping nonprofits throughout my life. I also pledge to volunteer with at least one non profit for as long as I have any free time in my life, and to regularly donate money to organizations once I have financial independence. I will volunteer with nonprofits that directly impact my community so that I may grow closer to those in my community and help improve my community. I will also make donations of a varying percent of my salary each year depending on the needs of the organizations to international nonprofits. I will do this every single year so that this becomes a habit for the rest of my life.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact [email protected]
Step 1
Have a healthy and vigorous dialogue in your class on the general idea of having a personal Giving Goal as a college student.
Step 2
Set a Giving Goal concerning your future giving plans.
Step 3
Share a brief statement of your Giving Goals on The Philanthropy Lab’s portal as a way to inspire others to do the same. You may post anonymously to the public if you wish.
Step 4
Share your permanent email address and phone number with The Philanthropy Lab, for the sole purpose of the reminder mechanism, so we can remind you of your goal in 5 year increments for 20 years into the future.

I pledge to make kindness and charity a part of my core values. I will dedicate myself, through the giving of my time and my money, towards improving the well-being of others. Currently, my career aspirations lie in the nonprofit sector, and I plan on pursuing a Master’s degree in both social work and public health to aid in my ability to help others. No matter where I end up professionally, though, I want to still give my time to help others. Strategic Philanthropy has made a huge impact on my philanthropic aspirations, so to give back, I would like to begin making a yearly donation to the Strategic Philanthropy classes at Texas A&M.

I pledge to keep the concepts that I’ve learned throughout this Strategic Philanthropy course with me as I continue on with my professional career, and to continue thinking of how I can have a strong impact on the nonprofits that serve issue areas that I am truly passionate about. It is a goal of mine to be constantly thinking about the gifts that I am able to make, whether financially or with my time or talents. I’m not sure if I can commit to creating a goal with a certain percentage that I want to give without knowing what income I’ll be making, but it is my goal to be philanthropic with what I will earn in the future, and to be open with my friends and family about how I am giving with the hopes to encourage them to do the same. The issue areas that I plan on giving to in the future include helping abused and neglected children, as well as giving to my future church.

I pledge to give both my time and my money to causes that are important to me for the rest of my life. I hope to donate at least 1 hour a month, or 52 hours a year to a local non-profit that I am passionate about. Additionally, I pledge 5% of my yearly income to this same non-profit so I may maximize my impact and effectiveness of my donation.

I pledge to give 10-15% of my annual income to at least two nonprofit organizations that I am passionate about and that I believe are doing important work for society. I also plan to donate my time by volunteering at least one weekend a month. I hope that with my efforts I can see major philanthropic change in my lifetime and an increase in importance placed on those in need.

I pledge to donate at least 10% of my income annually to non-profits that I have a relationship with and have determined to be doing mission-oriented, impactful, and strategic work for the betterment of individuals and families. Within 10 years of graduating, I hope to sit on the board of a non-profit that I have invested both my time and my finances in.
