I aim to give to 5 organizations yearly in the Caribbean that focuses on education and leadership for girls- $100 each. I also will be volunteering at an advocacy organization that focuses on helping to address the need of girls with sanitary menstrual products. I will volunteer at Ifetayo Arts Organization in Brooklyn New York at least once a month.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact [email protected]
Step 1
Have a healthy and vigorous dialogue in your class on the general idea of having a personal Giving Goal as a college student.
Step 2
Set a Giving Goal concerning your future giving plans.
Step 3
Share a brief statement of your Giving Goals on The Philanthropy Lab’s portal as a way to inspire others to do the same. You may post anonymously to the public if you wish.
Step 4
Share your permanent email address and phone number with The Philanthropy Lab, for the sole purpose of the reminder mechanism, so we can remind you of your goal in 5 year increments for 20 years into the future.

I plan to give willingly and graciously in the future, taking the time to thoughtfully contemplate and evaluate the impact my money will have on others.

In my life, I hope early on to focus on volunteering and being the boots on the ground for organizations that I support. As I will not have many liquid funds, I would prefer to save them and help put the current funds into action through volunteering. After some years and hopefully I’ve accumulated some funds, I do hope to give back to organizations that I vet and see fit for funds.

I want to give back a donation of $50 a month to the Rett Syndrome Foundation because I lost a loved one who suffered from this disability. I would want to give back to this charity to help them raise money for research which could hopefully find a cure and save others lives.

In the future, I want to be philanthropic not only through monetary donation, but also through my own career. I want to monetarily donate through business; I want to start a makeup company that is founded upon philanthropy. This company will revolve around highly personalized makeup through science and will have a unique empowering marketing strategy. The proceeds will go to selected organizations to be determined later. I plan to complete this business proposal before graduate school and begin to build the business from there. Additionally, during this time, I will also get my masters in Forensic Psychology to be philanthropic at a more individual and hands-on level. With my master’s, my ultimate goal is to create my own non-profit in preventing violence through early education, specifically violence rooted in paraphiliac disorders. I want to educate others on the signs of mental illness––as well as abnormal psychological behaviors––and destigmatize speaking up and getting help for paraphilic disorders. Other than these two goals, once I settle down wherever I go to graduate school, I want to foster dogs and also find a charity nearby that I love and start to volunteer there and donate a specific amount (based on my income level at that time and what I can afford).
