ZonaDocs (Mexico)

ZonaDocs is an independent digital media that was created, on August 30, 2017, due to the lack of journalistic spaces focused on human rights and as a need to create a training space for young journalists to learn what it means to work under this perspective.
In the more than three years of our existence, we have become a reference in the journalistic coverage of forced disappearances, feminist resistance and the struggle for territory in the western region of Mexico.
This past year we consolidated our position as an independent media of reference in the state of Jalisco; we also managed to consolidate our position as a “media-school” by training 15 young journalists in journalism with a human rights perspective, who are part of the newsroom as interns and students who provide professional internships and/or social service.

• Among our achievements, we won the Jalisco Journalism Award 2021 in the Reporting Category with the investigation: “Guadalajara: zone of extermination and disappearance”; we were also members of the investigation team of “Forensic Crisis” that won third place in the Latin American Investigative Journalism Award Javier Valdez in the #COLPIN2021.
