Artemisa Honduras is an organization that was born from the need of a group of young people to create a space free of stigma and discrimination, where they could be heard and create youth leadership processes that guarantee the full exercise of their human rights. Artemisa has a feminist conception, that is, our main objective is based on generating programs/projects focused on the vindication of the rights of girls, adolescents and women with a high focus on sexual and reproductive rights. The initiative of the organization seeks that through a collective effort we can see our communities transformed, we know it is a challenge, but we recognize that good changes require time and for this we are being leaders and forming the new generations that will have the power to decide what to do with their lives, as we have decided.
Thanks to this work philosophy, this past year we have had milestones and great institutional advances, which are part of the need to grow as an organization and expand our coverage and services to the community:
1. We joined 3 leading platforms in the region:
– Power to Choose Initiative: an initiative of 8 countries worldwide that addresses the sexual and reproductive rights (SRHR) of girls, adolescents and youth (NAJ in Spanish) from a perspective of advocacy and direct attention.
– Regional Youth Program PRJ: Latin American platform in DSDR.
– Nosotras decidimos (We Lead): This organization has a feminist approach and is led by women at the Central American level in the area of Human Rights.
2. We are moving forward with our documentation for the formalization of Artemisa as a non-governmental organization of local development recognized by the State of Honduras, we are creating activities for the revision of our Bylaws, Board of Directors and work team.
