What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact info@thephilanthropylab.org

My giving goals are focused on supporting marginalized communities and advocating for social justice. I want to help create positive change by contributing to causes that matter to me, like education access, refugee support, and economic equity. Through financial support, mentorship, and advocacy, I hope to make a meaningful impact and help build a more just and inclusive society.

I will aim to provide 2.5% of my yearly wealth to organizations in the Middle East that aim to increase social mobility from an educational and works-skills lens.

My draft giving goal is to start by donating 1% of my income during my first year of post-graduation employment. Each year, I plan to increase this percentage by 1% until I reach 10% in year 10. From that point onward, I will commit to donating at least 10% of my income annually. This incremental approach allows me to set realistic expectations while holding myself accountable. Additionally, I am fortunate that my post-grad employer matches charitable donations up to $1,000 per employee, which will enable me to amplify the impact of my contributions.

I pledge to donate 3% of my annual salary to a different philanthropic organization each year that supports either human rights, youth development, or women’s empowerment efforts. I aim to begin donating in 2 years and continue doing so for the rest of my life. Additionally, I pledge to join my community in volunteering 2 hours of my time per week to any immediate relief cause such as a food pantry, soup kitchen, or shelter. I aim to begin volunteering immediately following my college graduation and continuing doing so for the rest of my life. I will also challenge myself to encourage friends and family to volunteer their time with me, or on their own to a different organization that aligns with their philanthropic goals.

My current vision for giving centers around using my skills, experiences, and resources to create positive impact in areas I am passionate about: environmental sustainability, art, and community empowerment. My experiences in consulting, research, and leadership have shaped my belief that strategic action and collaboration can drive meaningful change. In the future, I aspire to combine my business acumen with a commitment to social impact by supporting initiatives that empower marginalized communities, promote cultural expression, and advocate for sustainable practices. For example, my work with NXT Consulting on environmental projects has shown me the power of combining innovative solutions with a purpose-driven mission. I envision using my knowledge in business strategy to advise and support organizations that prioritize environmental sustainability and social equity. Art has always been an important part of my life, as reflected in my leadership role in the Goizueta Art Market Guild. In the future, I aim to create platforms that highlight the intersection of art and business, fostering opportunities for emerging artists to access new markets and resources. I also hope to use my experiences in marketing and production, such as my work with the Jazz Music Awards, to promote cultural events that celebrate diverse voices and perspectives. My community involvement, including coordinating recycling initiatives and neighborhood clean-ups, has reinforced my commitment to grassroots efforts. In ten or twenty years, I envision dedicating my time and resources to initiatives that address local challenges, whether through volunteering, providing financial support, or offering my skills in strategic consulting to nonprofit organizations. Ultimately, I hope to be a connector – someone who brings together people, ideas, and resources to create positive change. Revisiting this vision in the future, I want to ensure that my career and personal life remain anchored in a spirit of giving, staying true to my ideals of promoting sustainability, cultural expression, and community empowerment.
