20% of my salary

When I graduate, I want to begin with giving 10% of my income annually to philanthropic endeavors. I would like to give 5% to Christian faith driven organizations, focused on bringing reform and awareness to the underprivileged locally and internationally. The other 5% I would like to allocate to food insecurity and poverty in my local area. This is driven my my passion and values for my faith, empathy, and love for others. Eventually, I would hope to be able to give 20-30% of my annual income towards these philanthropic purposes, or others that I grow more passionate about in my expansion with these works. For me, regardless of my salary, I want to ensure I am able to give back to the underprivileged and causes I care about helping foster change.

This class has made me realize the importance of generosity throughout all aspects of a person’s life. My personal giving goal is to give 10% of my salary to nonprofits or other philanthropic efforts throughout the whole of my life. Though I only work part-time right now, I can still be generous with the money that I do have. It is important to me that I support my Church and other faith-based nonprofits that are seeking to serve others and spread the light of Christ to the world. In addition, I want to make my life a life of service. I want to spend time volunteering with nonprofits and my church as often as I can. Ideally, I would like to spend 5-10hrs volunteering each month. I hope to make these goals a reality as I enter the workforce in the coming years!

I aim to engage with at least two different nonprofits on a yearly basis, with at least one of them being through monetary support. When choosing what nonprofits to support, I will dedicate time to fully understand the organization’s mission and impact prior to committing to working with them. A minimum of 10% of my salary on a yearly basis will go towards philanthropic endeavors, with the percentage increasing as I progress in my career. Volunteer time will also be prioritized, and I will work towards spending at least 50 hours a year volunteering for local nonprofits.

After evaluating which values are the most important to me in terms of my life and my giving, I was able to narrow it down to my top 3: faith, freedom, and generosity. And then, in self-evaluating which issue areas are the most important to me, I got down to prison reform, youth development, and religion. I hope, in future years, I am able to keep myself consistently tithing and giving an additional 5%, as able, to other organizations who are doing good work and changing lives. I want to be a person marked by generosity and steadfastness to the values I believe in.
