I would love to expand my giving right now, as I sporadically donate to causes which pull at my heart. I hope to use my heightened awareness of values to find organizations which further causes I am passionate about. In the future, I plan to establish a consistent tithe to my church, but also strive to give elsewhere. I find the prospect of serving on the board of a foundation or nonprofit very fascinating, and hope to achieve that level of involvement at some point. I am strong in the resolve that once I am working I will contribute a percent of my salary to nonprofit endeavors, whether it be the church or others, and to diversify that donation with personal interaction such as serving on a board or volunteering. I want to not only steward my money, but to also cultivate meaningful relationships with those my funds are benefitting.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact [email protected]

I pledge to use the values and tactics I’ve learned in this class moving forward in my future. I plan on giving 10% of my salary to the church as well as giving my time and talents to be used to help others. I also plan on strategically giving a certain amount with my family, where we are able to plan the gift and understand our motives and the values of the organization we are giving to. I vow to give my time and energy regardless of whether I have the funds to causes that make my heart beat faster. My future will look very different in terms of intentional giving because of this class.

I pledge to uphold a lifetime commitment of supporting nonprofit organizations and social ventures, both locally and internationally, with my time, talents, and resources. Building from the insight and experience gained through the Philanthropy Lab, I plan to thoughtfully and strategically give to the causes I feel most drawn to, ensuring I also do so compassionately and with a mindset of humility. I pledge to maintain a view of continuous giving, understanding the capacity for impact I have due to the opportunities I have been given, and hope to inspire others to do the same. I want the size of each financial gift to be determined by what is both sustainable for me and the cause I am choosing to support, focusing on what I can offer that can bring the biggest impact. Outside of monetary support, I plan to seek the responsibility of serving on a Board of Directors, or at the very least, setting aside time each month to routinely volunteer in another capacity.

I pledge to live in a mindset of giving and to continuously ask myself, “what can I give?” I want to give my time, talent, and treasures back to the world and commit my life to improving the lives of others. This course has opened my eyes to the breadth of the words giving and philanthropy. The future is bright and full of opportunities to give back to the school, people, and world that has given me so much.

I pledge to invest 10% of my income in several nonprofits and causes for which I will support year-after-year. On top of that, I will set aside 5% of my monthly earnings to give away as “random acts of kindness”. I never want to limit myself to only being generous in certain areas of my life; instead, I would like to be observant of individuals, families, and causes that I can humbly give to as needs arise. Additionally, I hope to either work for a nonprofit or serve on a board for a nonprofit focused on creating comprehensive solutions for those living in poverty.

I pledge to give of myself fully in whatever work I find myself doing, remembering that I have been given resources and skills to give to others. I will dedicate my work to the marginalized, to those who have been cast out from their societies and told they don’t have much to offer. I will not restrict my giving to a set amount, but strive to live in a way that gives more of what I have to others than keeping it for myself, whether that means in time or monetarily.
