Once I have a professional career and have paid off my student loans, I pledge to give 10% of my annual income to various organizations and research that share my values and inspire positive change in the world and for the future. Until this time, I pledge to research and find these organizations, make meaningful connections with them, and to give my time to them to aid in furthering their mission however I can.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.

Step 1
Have a healthy and vigorous dialogue in your class on the general idea of having a personal Giving Goal as a college student.
Step 2
Set a Giving Goal concerning your future giving plans.
Step 3
Share a brief statement of your Giving Goals on The Philanthropy Lab’s portal as a way to inspire others to do the same. You may post anonymously to the public if you wish.
Step 4
Share your permanent email address and phone number with The Philanthropy Lab, for the sole purpose of the reminder mechanism, so we can remind you of your goal in 5 year increments for 20 years into the future.

Once I graduate college, I pledge to use my time to volunteer at organizations that I am passionate about. As of now, I see myself volunteering at both local and international organizations that focus on poverty and injustice in the developing world. Once I have a job with a steady income, I plan to continue giving my time along with donating 5% of my yearly income.

I seek to give both my time and 10% of what I earn back into the community I am apart of. There is no restriction or conditions on where I give, wherever it is most needed. I seek to volunteer my time as well, because relationship and love is one of the greatest things you can give freely.

I pledge to selflessly give of my time, talents and treasure to organizes that align with my own values and beliefs. As someone who enjoys service and believes firmly in giving to those who are in most need, I would pledge to donating at least 52 hours of volunteer service each year (1hr/week) with the goal of one day, finances providing, give 10% of my salary to organizations working to solve root-cause issues in areas of education, family systems, and poverty in my local community.

I pledge to give, either through volunteering or finances, two years after graduating and beyond. I will be focusing on working with non-profits with a faith-based and/or social justice focus, or I will use this money to give financial support to those in fields that need to raise support, such as mission-work. If financially viable I will give 10% of my salary and volunteer when able. Otherwise, I aim to give 5% and do 70 hours of volunteer work a year.
