I pledge to give 10% of my annual gross income to causes that align with my values beginning with my first paycheck. This course has shown me the importance of and the due diligence necessary to giving effectively. Bearing this in mind, I pledge to be strategic and thorough in my annual evaluations of potential nonprofits, and in following up to track past donations. Additionally, because I understand that giving means more than just a financial commitment, I pledge to offer my talents as a form of giving. In my pursuit of a legal career, I will use my skills to offer a set number of pro bono hours to serve underprivileged individuals in my local community.

I commit to donating at least 10% of my income and volunteering at least 100 hours a year. I pledge to continue to learn about giving, and I will continue educating myself about philanthropy by reading books, articles, and watching videos. Additionally, I will evaluate my charitable actions quarterly. These actions will help me maintain dedication and enthusiasm for helping others in my community!

I believe that every individual has dignity and should be treated as such. Because of this, I pledge to give a minimum of 5% of my income after graduation to organizations of my choosing. I will assess these organizations based off the methods we have learned in class and evaluate my donations every year to ensure I am giving well. I will also chose a local organization to develop a partnership with, giving my time and talents as well as funds.

Giving is important to me as I am striving to be an ally in my words, actions, and relationships. I want to use my life to seek social justice and make the world more equitable around me. My career goals are to work in public interest law to alter structures of institutional oppression. I want to dedicate my whole law career to giving to others. My time and talents are the main way I intend to give throughout my life. However, I am planning to pay back my student loans for undergrad and law school by placing a percentage of my income in a separate account. This percentage will be relevant when I discover how much I have to pay in interest and total loans. Once I pay back my student loans and I am finished with my education, I intend to maintain this account and give the same percentage of my income that was going to student loans to others. I am particularly interested in giving to organizations that fight for social justice, break down structures of oppression, and work towards ending climate change.

By setting aside money in a dedicated account, I pledge to give, at minimum, ten percent of my income to do good and further my values in my community. I will focus particularly on helping every child have education and experiences which allow them to identify their potential and prepare them to meaningfully contribute to their own community. I will give primarily to organizations which I have or can build a relationship of service and support. Through thorough research and quarterly evaluations I will understand how my giving effectively furthers my values. By educating my peers through assisting with research and evaluation, I also pledge to mobilize giving in others, knowing more giving will lead to more good.

As a student in TCU’s Nature of Giving class, I have learned what it means to give well. Starting with my first paycheck, I pledge to give 5% of my income to nonprofits that focus on causes that I value, including health, homelessness, and children. I am committed to doing my due diligence by carefully examining each nonprofit, and I will annually assess my past and present giving to ensure I continue to put my money in the best hands possible. Additionally, I pledge to give my time and talents to children through my career in teaching. I pledge to be intentional with my actions as I teach and empower young children, to give them the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to set them up for success in their future. Lastly, I pledge to give spontaneously anytime I encounter an opportunity in my day-to-day life and to extend my knowledge of giving to those around me. Now that I have been on the receiving end in order to have a hands-on learning experience about giving, I am dedicated to using my knowledge to give to others each year.
