I hope to give at least 20% of my income in the future, to nonprofits that help the challenges of education and homelessness. I also hope to volunteer my time in the future.
What is a Giving Goal?
Often, the idealism of youth is lost as one achieves success and acquires material possessions later in life. What was originally considered to be “enough” or even “beyond my wildest dreams” can become just another milestone on one’s quest…
Capturing your current vision of how you wish to give of yourself and your resources in the future could help you plan to give more meaningfully. Revisiting this vision in ten or twenty years could provide a reminder of the ideals of your youth that may shape or re-shape your future actions.
If you have already posted your Giving Goal and would like to update your email for future reminders, please contact [email protected]
Step 1

Step 3
Share a brief statement of your Giving Goals on The Philanthropy Lab’s portal as a way to inspire others to do the same. You may post anonymously to the public if you wish.
Step 4
Share your permanent email address and phone number with The Philanthropy Lab, for the sole purpose of the reminder mechanism, so we can remind you of your goal in 5 year increments for 20 years into the future.

I declare my giving goal of donating at least 5% of my yearly income. Benefiting the community and helping those in need are extremely important to me! I hope others who can contribute can help those in need.

My giving goal upon graduation will be to allocate 10% of my income to giving financially. I will give to my church as well as non-profits in my area. I want this number to increase as time passes, and I have the means to do so. I want to increase the percentage by 2 percent every five years. Not only do I want to give financially, I also want to give my time. I aim to volunteer at a non-profit whose mission aligns with my passions at least twice a month. I would like to build relationships with the non-profit community in my area and be able to gain a deep understanding of their mission and how they work to accomplish it. I believe that this will motivate me to give more and also give me the understanding to motivate the people around me to give more.

My giving goal starts with my time. I plan on being active in my community and informed about the nonprofits in my area, to the point where I know their needs and impact on the community. I hope to continue to be active in the nonprofit world as I am right now in order to put continue to grow myself and to help those around me. I hope to get to the point where I can consistently give at least 10% of my income to help those around me. This may be to general funds that I can trust to allocate that money to the most needed places in the community or it may be to specific organizations which I am involved in and have an understanding of their needs.

I wish to donate 5% of my income to non-profits who I believe have a mission that will change thousands of lives, at the very least yearly! I also wish to use my social and work platforms as advocates for the non-profits I donate to! Whether it is a small business growing or an already thriving non-profit, I hope the money I am able to give to these philanthropies helps to expand helping those who deal with abuse, addiction, and lack of resources. While this may seem like a minuscule donation compared to those with major income, the small contribution I aim to give will hopefully go a long way and help enforce change!

I strive to give more than what feels comfortable at every point throughout my life. Although I plan to always give a minimum of 10% of my financial income, I want to go beyond this by giving part of my time, my spiritual discourse, and my physical property away. I have already begun to adopt the mindset that I do not own anything on this earth, but I want to further define my life with this in mind, being an easygoing and kind man who holds a loose grip on his possessions. I have begun this in my life right now by a simple, but often difficult practice. When someone gives me a compliment on something I am wearing or using, I try to offer it to them. I make myself seriously offer it to the person who said “I like your…” to have as a gift. I want to share these possessions, along with the love I have and the wisdom/knowledge I will have the opportunity to gain in my life. I do not want to stay at 10% either though. I hope to continue to increase that percentage as (Lord willing) my income increases throughout my life.
