Forward Learning Youth and Young Adults (FLYY) is a six-year old nonprofit organization headquartered in Madison, WI. It is made up of experiential educators, counselors, and crisis prevention experts with decades of combined experience in wilderness programming both within the non-profit sector and the juvenile correctional system. FLYY inspires character development through dynamic wilderness expeditions for some of the most challenged individuals, families, and groups in Wisconsin. FLYY’s mission is to be a leading catalyst and resource for youth and families to transform their outlook, develop coping skills, and build capacity for resilience. FLYY’s program goals are grounded in principles of restorative justice and a belief that people: 1) Can change their lives with proper guidance, support, an optimistic attitude, and a cohesive and safe group environment. 2) Deserve a fair chance at changing their default behaviors, perspectives, coping skills, and attitudes. 3) Can push themselves past their perceived physical, mental, and emotional limits. 4) Deserve respect and dignity while they are trying to break old habits and learn new alternatives.
