Arte y Maña, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide communities with artistic tools that promote social well-being, solidarity, leadership, and self-management. The organization’s vision is to contribute to social welfare through art and culture.
Through arts and education, the organization carries out activities that promote civility, social well-being, equity, leadership, self-management, and creativity in communities. With its services, participants have tools that allow them to communicate better in their environment, decrease violence and establish safe-spaces. Additionally, through art, the organization seeks to contribute to the understanding of managing emotions, increasing participants’ capacity for empathy and leadership.
The contribution of the Sagrado Philanthropy Laboratory will help provide workshops for children and youth from communities with high levels of vulnerability in the municipalities of Loíza and Orocovis, located in the eastern and central areas of Puerto Rico. The workshops promote community development and are oriented towards helping participants identify their artistic abilities and find possibilities for personal development, which, in turn, help them establish short and medium-term goals. The workshops are an opportunity to expose the community to dynamics and theatrical exercises that foster self-confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Through a series of theater games, participants will gain knowledge of the language of the performing arts and skills in creating narratives, characters, and resolving conflicts.
