I pledge to give at least 10% of my salary/income to organizations that engage in causes I am passionate about, including basic needs, medical and dental health, and my church. These causes may shift as my experiences and beliefs also shift. I am choosing to give 10% because that is something that I have done since high school. However, I am open to increasing the percentage as my income/salary increases. In order to combat potentially not giving the full 10% in a given year, I commit to setting aside that portion of my paycheck in a separate account, regardless of how much I end up giving from that 10%. That way, even if I do not give the full 10% one year, that money will be set aside for the purpose of giving. I also commit to spending at least one hour of my week volunteering at my church or an organization (as I have done in the past). In addition, as a future dentist, I commit to spend some of my time volunteering at underserved clinics within my community, especially after dipping my toes in those clinics during dental school.
