I expect my giving goal to grow and transform as I move throughout my life and career. As I will likely attend graduate school, I will focus on giving my time for the first few years post-grad. I am particularly passionate about organizations that support and protect those who are most vulnerable in our community, including children, the elderly, individuals with special needs, and those experiencing homelessness. To start, I will dedicate at least 5 hours per month to volunteering with organizations that reflect my values and serve these populations. This service will not only directly benefit the organizations I work with, but also allow me to become more involved with my community and better informed about the challenges facing vulnerable populations. Once I begin my career, I plan to expand my commitment by donating 5% of my annual salary to the same or similar organizations I have volunteered with. To hold myself accountable, I will open a separate account specifically for charitable giving and contribute to it monthly. While these goals may seem modest, it is important to me that they are both realistic and sustainable. Over time, I will likely increase both my volunteer involvement and financial contributions as my skills and resources grow.
